About the Artist

Meghan Ealanora is a Canadian-American artist that lives in the Philadelphia region. She graduated with a BFA in painting from Tyler School of Art and Architecture in the Fall of 2021. Her art explores everyday scenes as a reflection of people, places, and their history. Environments are a constant inspiration to her, furthered  by her interest in regionalist, surrealist and expressionist ideas regarding location, personal experience, and color use. Her focus upon time and place is grounded in contemporary conversations regarding religion, technology and the contrasts of urban, suburban, and pastoral experiences. In her practice she utilizes mixed media to create color washes and layers that present ethereal scenes, inviting viewers to question what they see and how they see it.  The integration of text, collage and figural imagery in her paintings explore historical archetypes, mythology, literature, theater, film and cultural perceptions.

Meghan's primary artistic method involves the use of  mixed media, usually a mixture of diluted acrylic, gouache and watercolor paints on canvas, wood or paper. This use of mixed media lends it self to the creation of finite details on small and large scales. She utilize inks, and washes of paint to create layers of color and depth that are complemented by distinct line work and mark.  This layering of washes and mediums gives a  sense of movement and  time, while exploring the impact of color interaction and intent. She enjoys experimenting with color parings, saturation, hues and tones to augment the experiences viewers have and how they interact with images.
